The Valencia CF coach talks after the 2-2 result against Deportivo Alavés
The team travel to the country for the fourth time in its history to face the Mexican national team at the Estadio Cuauhtémoc in Puebla.
Valencia CF travel to Mexico this week to play a friendly match against the Mexican national team on Saturday 12 October (early morning of 13 October in Spain). It will be the fourth time that the team has travelled to Mexico with which it has a great historical connection.
Check out all the precedents below!
1963
The first visit took place in the summer of 1963. Valencia CF, recently proclaimed champions of the Copa de Ferias, would play four matches in August against América, Universidad, Oro de Guadalajara and Veracruz, carrying out various social events, among which they paid tribute to Julio Gascó, co-founder who had died years before, and visited the Casa Regional Valenciana, thus reinforcing their connection with the Valencians and Valencianistas who had left for Mexico after the Civil War. This expedition, which took place in 1966, contributed to re-establishing diplomatic relations between both countries.

1966
The first visit left a big mark and three years later Valencia CF would travel to Mexico again, where they took part in the inauguration of the Azteca Stadium and became the first team to win in this scenario of enormous importance in the history of football with a 3-0 victory over Atlante Fútbol Club. Valencia CF would go on to face Necaxa and a few days later América. Among the extra-sporting events was a visit to the home of the renowned actor Mario Moreno ‘Cantinflas’, of whom players who took part in that tour, such as Pep Claramunt, who came up from the reserve team and played his first minutes with the first team, highlight his great human qualities.
2003
Forty years after Valencia CF's first visit to Mexico, our players returned to the Aztec country to play a friendly match against Toluca FC, champions of the Apertura tournament, at the Nemesio Diez stadium.
